Here are a few FREE ideas to get out you out of the house and enjoying what the community has to offer.

The Milwaukee Public Library offers a handful of free events each month. This January, you might want to check out Coffee & Coloring on January 8 & 22, at the Villard Square location. Grab a free cup of coffee or tea, find a fun coloring sheet, and get creative while socializing. The Martin Luther King location offers free Chair Yoga every Wednesday in January from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. This is a great way for all body types and all fitness levels to “learn gentle, effective chair-based exercises that incorporate movement, breathing, mindfulness, stretching, and relaxation.” For more free events at Milwaukee Public Libraries, click here.

The Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University has an Open House on January 22. This is a family-friendly event that will celebrate their current exhibitions, Toward the Texture of KnowingKeith Haring Construction Fence, and Exploring the Core Curriculum: Individuals and Communities. There will also be a special Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Gallery Talk with Dr. Cedric Burrows at 2 p.m.  Dr. Burrows will be discussing Joel Sternfeld’s photograph, The National Civil Rights Museum, Formerly the Lorrain Motel, 450 Mulberry Street, Memphis, Tennesee. For more details about the Haggerty Museum of Art and their list of January events, click here.

For the second year, Museum Week comes to Milwaukee! This event, celebrating Milwaukee museums runs from January 18 -26. There will be tours, talks, programs, and exhibits throughout Milwaukee at places like the Harley Davidson Museum, Discovery World, Jewish Museum Milwaukee, and many more!
