How to keep busy in Milwaukee
There are so many things to do in May! Did you know that May is Older Americans Month? Seniors across the country can find activities to celebrate this year’s theme, Engage at Every Age. Don’t forget about Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. With so many options, here is a list of fun activities to keep you busy as we welcome Spring!
- The ERAs Senior Network is holding their annual Tapestry Dinner on May 3, 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Marriott Milwaukee West. Tickets are $100, with $45 going to support ERAs efforts to engage and support Waukesha County seniors in leading meaningful lives. The evening will include dinner (choice of a New York Strip Dinner Entrée or Halibut Dinner Entrée), wine pull, cash raffle, and a silent and live auction with items such as original artwork, Brewers and Packers tickets, spa certificates, museum packages, and so much more!
- There are so many ways to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day! Here are a couple unique ways to celebrate: The Boerner Botanical Gardens is holding a free event on May 13, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will include make-and-take gifts for mothers and grandmothers. For an additional charge, you can enjoy a special Mother’s Day Brunch at the Boerner Restaurant. Does your mother enjoy Bingo? The Bingo Hall at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino has a Mother’s Day Special Session, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
- Memorial Day is a great time to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our country. Here are some events for the Memorial Day weekend: The 153rd Milwaukee Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 28, at 2 p.m. The parade route starts at 4th and Wisconsin Ave and will head east towards the War Memorial Center. The Milwaukee Brewers Military Appreciation Day offers free tickets to all veterans and currently serving military and their families. Must provide military ID.
