Brookfield is a city located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Brookfield is the third largest city in Waukesha County. The city is adjacent to the Town of Brookfield.

As of the census of 2010, there were 37,920 people, 14,576 households, and 10,999 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,399.8 inhabitants per square mile (540.5/km2).
